The trio from Twice (Mina, Sana, and Momo) formed a trio that probably will become Destiny’s Child of Asia. Their debut Album Masterpiece did bring the name to its justice

As someone who didn’t much into an Asian idol group or trio, I have little knowledge and interest in those. However, the trio of Japanese women from the Korean Idol group Twice seems to want to show that.. “if the group disbands, we can still be better than them”

Amid both Korean and Japanese idol music genres heavy on pop/dance/reggeaton/heavy electro/and house. It seems difficult to find those who came with a new and fresher formula.

Didn’t want to drift away from the market, MISAMO try to bring out the other side of those popular genres.

The Album consists of 8 songs, full of surprises. They try to tell the audience the sides of Fearless Women. They can be happy-go-lucky, they can be a softie, and they can be fierce at the same time.

Their latest hit “Do Not Touch” represent the strong-minded women who wouldn’t be easily swayed by the words of men. If you listen carefully the lyrics explicitly stated how men should wait for approval if they really want to “touch” her.

Backed with an astonishing visual of their Music Video which is very sensual and appealing to the eyes.

Music-wise, it’s heavily on modern RnB which is still heavy on drum, and MPC Beats which is very familiar to the current RnB songs in the US.

Feeling a little bit soft, Marshmallow and Bouquet could be the perfect choice. The songs literally will bring out your soft side as the sounds really remind me a lot of the 2010–2015 K-pop era where the music is very cheerful and bubbly.

And this is what I love about Misamo, they know how to bring old classic 1920s Jazz but make it modern in Behind The Curtain. The song could literally transport you into a 1920s film with all the glamour

The three songs, Funny Valentine, It’s Not Easy for You, and Remind You share the same vibe. Resilient, Independent, and Sensuality, sadly it didn’t give much high impression like Do Not Touch or Behind The Curtain. Nevertheless, those songs are as good as the others in the album itself.

Overall, MISAMO prove that a sub-group from a top K-Pop Girlband Twice could become a new side of the group itself. Even though the song is entirely a mix between English and Japanese, rest assured that this group someday could become the real contender of Twice itself.

The Album “Masterpiece” surely gives the name its justice. A new set of new Masterpieces that this trio will create in the near future. As for someone who didn’t listen much to the K-Pop/J-pop group in general. This could be your starter… maybe after this, I’ll try to listen to Twice.

It’s 8.5/10.
